Sarah’s ultramarathon: Turning miles into momentum for research

Sarah Li has always loved a challenge. A six-time marathon runner, she was in training for her next race when life took an unexpected turn.

Now living with stage 4 EGFR lung cancer, on 3 May 2026 she is completing 54km of a 100km Ultra Marathon challenge across the Isle of Wight with the people who stood by her through it all — turning fear into determination, and miles into hope.

Taking on the 2026 TCS London Marathon - a race close to her heart.

Last year, a small injury forced Mandy to step back from the London Marathon start line. But she hasn’t let that setback stop her from taking action where it matters most: raising funds for vital lung cancer research.

Inspired by her friend Yvonne, also family and friends who’ve also had cancer battles, on 26 April 2026 Mandy will take on the TCS London Marathon. Mandy is running to fund much needed research for oncogene-driven lung cancers—aggressive cancers that often affect younger people with no smoking history. Every donation supports life-saving studies at the Institute of Cancer Research, helping give patients hope and better outcomes.

Support Mandy today—every mile she runs brings us closer to breakthroughs.

Tee off for life-saving research on 26 June 2026

Join us on 26 June 2026 at Tall Pines Golf Club (in Bristol, BS48 3DJ) for a fantastic day of golf, food, fun, and fundraising, organised by Jan Clark to support vital lung cancer research.

Golfers: Enjoy tea or coffee on arrival with a bacon roll, 18 holes of golf, a post-game BBQ, and a chance to take part in our fun extras like “Beat the Pro,” mulligan balloons, nearest the pin challenges, and more. Hole sponsorship is also available for companies looking to support research and gain exposure.

Not a golfer? You can still make a difference. Donate directly to the charity, sponsor a hole, or contribute an auction or raffle prize — every contribution helps fund life-saving studies.

Whether on the course or cheering from the sidelines, your support helps us push the boundaries of lung cancer research and bring hope to patients and families.

Meet Christina, Ruth and Aude.

Tackled the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Research

Christina, Ruth and Aude teamed up last year to run their hometown marathon - the 2025 TCS London Marathon taking place - to support vital research. Together they raised over £10k, all of which went straight to The Institute of Cancer Research - one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. Their mission is to make discoveries that defeat cancer.
